Committees

Programming Committee
The Programming Committee develops and implements community-building, cultural, and educational programs at CRO. Volunteers are needed to help brainstorm, plan, and bring these events to life.

Membership & Welcoming Committee
Help us create a warm and inclusive environment for both current members and those new to our community. The Membership Committee organizes welcoming activities and encourages members to open their homes to guests and newcomers.

Children’s Programming Committee
The Children’s Programming Committee organizes engaging events for kids throughout the year. Volunteers are welcome to join the planning team or assist at events. Learn more about our current children’s programming.

Facilities Committee
If you have an eye for detail or a passion for maintaining and enhancing our beautiful building, we invite you to get involved! Your skills can help ensure our space remains welcoming, functional, and inspiring.

Finance Committee
If you have expertise or interest in finance, budgeting, or accounting, your insight can make a real difference. Join the Finance Committee to help steward CRO’s financial health.

Fundraising & Annual Dinner Committees
Join a team dedicated to supporting CRO’s growth and sustainability. Help plan fundraising initiatives, special campaigns, and our annual community dinner to ensure our shul continues to thrive.

Volunteer Opportunities

Kiddush Set-Up Volunteer
Join our Kiddush rotation and help set up once every four months. Clear instructions and brief training will be provided — no experience necessary, just a willingness to lend a hand and build community.

Security
The Community Security Service (CSS) provides security for CRO on Shabbat mornings and holidays. After completing a short training, volunteers are placed on a rotation to serve as part of our security team. All members are encouraged to see the safety of our shul as a shared responsibility.

Hosting Shabbat Meals
CRO’s MetU initiative matches individuals seeking Shabbat hospitality with families and hosts from our community. Volunteers are added to a mailing list to receive notifications when hosting opportunities arise — a wonderful way to welcome others and build connections.

Cholent Cooking
Volunteers join a rotation to prepare CRO’s famous Shabbat chulent. You can use the shul’s classic recipe or your own — ingredients are provided. Cooking takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour on Friday afternoons. Click here to view photos of our chulent-making volunteers.

Providing Meals for Others in the Community
Join a network of volunteers who provide meals for individuals and families in need — including those welcoming new babies, recovering from illness, or going through challenging times. A small act of kindness goes a long way in supporting our community.
