Enjoy learning about the 5 megillot and how to leyn them! We'll begin with Megillat Esther, in preparation for Purim, with the goal for our class members to be comfortable participating in CRO's women's megillah reading. (Please note: You can still attend the class even if you won't be participating in the shul's women's megillah reading!!)
Who: Girls near or at Bat Mitzvah age (11.5 and up) and their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, older sisters, etc., as well as any women interested in learning more about leyning. All levels of experience are welcome! This class is open both to CRO members and non-members.
Where: at the home of Maureen and Moshe Nemetski (address to be provided upon registration)
When: Weekly (Sundays or Tuesday evenings) from January to Purim (early March). First class will meet Tuesday, January 10, at 7pm. Exact dates of future classes TBD.
Cost:* $180 per person or $270 per pair (mother/daughter, for example) for the 9-class series. Classes will be recorded so that you can still benefit even if you are unable to attend every session.
* Please note that the cost of the class covers the teacher's salary and payment for the class will be collected in cash or check at the first class.
About the teacher: Sarah Robinson is studying towards a masters degree in Talmud in Yeshiva University's Graduate Program for Advanced Talmudic Studies for Women (GPATS). Sarah enjoys teaching women how to read Tanakh with the trope; to date, Sarah has taught over 35 women, ranging from bat mitzvah students to Bubbies, how to leyn the 5 megillot and Torah. Sarah also enjoys singing with her nieces Rachel and Miriam Daitch to CRO's shabbat sing along every Friday morning. A native of Boston, Sarah previously studied in Maimonides School, Migdal Oz, and Stern College for Women.
