Synagogue Manager
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a full-time Synagogue Manager to oversee all aspects of synagogue operations, including building management, programming support, communications, and financial management. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, project management expertise, and familiarity with Jewish traditions and terminology.
This position reports to the (volunteer) synagogue president and requires on-site presence most days, with a collaboratively determined work schedule that balances organizational and personal needs.
Key responsibilities include:

Programming Support: Provide administrative and logistical support for Shabbat, holidays, festivals, life-cycle events, and community meals, including food and supply procurement and coordination of volunteers. Manage the synagogue calendar, coordinating events, rentals, and staff scheduling.

Operations: Oversee building maintenance, custodial services, security systems, and supply procurement. Manage primary tenant and rental relationships, including agreements, billing, and logistics. Supervise and coordinate vendors, deliveries, and building access.

Communications: Serve as the primary contact for members, prospective members, and community organizations. Oversee the Communications Coordinator, ensuring timely dissemination of newsletters, event publicity, and digital content.

Financial and Membership Management: Partner with the Treasurer for bookkeeping, billing, deposits, disbursements, and banking. Support fundraising efforts and membership data management.

Administrative Support: Assist the President, Rabbi, and lay leaders with additional tasks as needed.

Detail-Oriented and Organized: Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Self-Starter and Adaptable: Works independently while taking direction as needed.

Strong Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication with a customer service mindset.

Team-Oriented Leadership: Collaborative with clergy, staff, lay leaders, and vendors to meet deadlines.

Technologically Proficient: Skilled in office tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Google Docs) and social media; familiarity with ShulCloud is a plus.

Jewish Community Knowledge: Understanding of modern Orthodox community needs; familiarity with Jewish traditions and Hebrew is highly desirable.
